Smashed trailer connector repair

substitutionally I ran over a rock while 4wheelin’ and smashed the trailer connector on my ’95 4Runner. Do I need a new trailer harness, or can it be repaired?

What is the vehicle? ’95 4Runner V6, 5-speed

Is it a stock trailer connector, or aftermarket? It’s a U-Haul trailer connector.

conspiratorially Diagnosis by phone: Well, it’s a 50/50 chance, but my guess is it is likely to be able to be repaired without replacing the whole system. I’ll have to do some hands-on diagnosis though.

Final diagnosis: When I got this vehicle the first thing I did was a visual inspection of the parts. Trailer light controller was intact and in good condition. The wires were all good and had continuity all the way up to the connector. And, yes the connector was mangled.

Solution: Replace the connector by splicing on a new end.
