http://ramblingfisherman.com/export.php The rear wiper on my 2002 Sequoia stopped working the other day. I’ve checked the fuse and it’s good. Is the motor bad?
Is the rear window rolled all the way up? I’m not getting any snow or water in the back.
Do you remember the last time that it was working? I haven’t used it since the last snow storm. Probably a week ago.

Toyota builds the logic into the rear window system so that the wiper motor doesn’t get energized until the rear window is completely up. Most of the time the reason that the wiper motor doesn’t work is because the rear window button was bumped so that the window is down less than 1/8″ (3mm). The window looks like it’s up. It doesn’t leak because it hasn’t disengaged from the rubber channel that seals out moisture. But … it is down enough to trip the “open” sensor which cuts the power to the wiper motor.
Final diagnosis: Yes, we tried the rear wiper switch, no wiper movement. Push the rear window switch to roll the window up and it moved just a fraction. Enough to fix the issue since we tried the rear wiper switch again and the wiper works.
Solution: Make sure that the rear window is fully up even when it looks like it’s all the way up. This solution should work on all Toyotas with a rear window that rolls down and has a wiper on it.
